Forest

The forest begins to awaken
with the soft glow of dawn
Darkness gives way to light
as the first rays of the sun
peek through the upper branches

Birds begin to sing their tunes
a symphony of peace and joy
welcoming the new day

Walking slowly through the trees
my footsteps are muffled by
a soft carpet of fallen leaves
still wet with morning dew

Away from the city’s chaos
with it’s man made clutter
and illusions of reality
My mind begins to clear
I am wonderfully alive again
surrounded by living earth

I feel the tension drain away
as the simple call of a bird
reminds me of what is real

I love the woods and nature.  Reading this has made me long to return for a long overdue visit.  Your poem has lulled me with peace Gary.

This poem is what i want. i want to be away from the city's chaos. i want to be in the love of nature the way it should be.  i want to hear the birds sing a morning song as i walk within the trees and all the happiness that surrounds me would lift me high and help me stand when i fall.
Wonderful poem. I wish I could be there.

Gary,

Wonderful poem. It's nice to have a place like this where we can get away.

*Embarassed* to say I do not think I have read this one before love.........

It is so peaceful and reminds me of the things that I tell you I treasure!

Breathtaking images conjured in my mind with this one........
