I've always been fascinated by the birds
These fair,winged soaring creatures,
Which grew into an obession for me
Being awed by their feathery features.

And so to the park, I often would go
To witness their air-borne feats,
And wishing that I could just take one home
To me, that would just be so neat!

And so one night, while pretty well soused
My courage well backed by my drink,
I thought I would finally nab me a bird
But 'twas harder than one would think.

Into the Bird sanctuary I crept
Bringing with me some bird seed and a net,
And by the time that I finally caught one
I was wreaking with dirt and in sweat.

I guess that my antics were louder than thought,
I thought myself sneaky and bad,
But just as soon  as I captured my prize
A security guard showed, and I fled.

Just outside the park, all winded and such
I stopped with the bird, my hands cupped,
'Twas then that I noticed the blue lights flash
And startled, I threw my hands up.

When I did, the bird made his break
Flying to get out of that place,
And when I looked up to see where he'd gone
He had a surprise for my face.

Yes, the cop caught me red handed
I was both ashamed and disgraced,
He knew I had taken a Tern for the worse--
It was written all over my face!

The bad part about it-I'm now a Jail-bird
And somewhere that bird's flying free,
If ever I get my hands on him again
I'll stew him and add some gravy!!!!

Now for me some words come easy
But I know that they don't mean that much
Compared with the things that are said when lovers touch
You never knew what I loved in you
I don't know what you loved in me
Maybe the picture of somebody you were hoping I might be

This was delightful!  A foul tale but very entertaining! I didn't know they let you jailbirds have access to the 'net! lol
WELL DONE! Dennis :^)

Poetry is the expression of thoughts which awake the higher and nobler emotions, or their opposites, with words arranged to some accepted convention.........or maybe not! Dennis :^)

David,

From one bird lover to another:

...tis better to observe them in flight,
and admire from AFAR this awesome sight...

Very cute and entertaining.
