The Place Was Dynamite

He drank his coffee black
no sugar and no cream
and his stride was slack.

Every morning he would stop
and order up a big mug
then he'd stay to eavesdrop.

We got to know him by name
he said he was a pool player
and everyone knew his game.

He invited us to his pool hall
said he'd teach us to play
and how to sink an eight ball.

How could we refuse his invite?
So we joined him that night
and the place was dynamite.

Now every week on Friday
we head over to his place
and a pool game we play.

A connection was formed
among us all together
new friendships warmed.

Sounds like a good time! It's been awhile since I played pool (I wasn't very good, anyway). Good poem, Gloria! I am always surprised to see you rhyming but I enjoy it!
