Pride, for the most part, is something quite good;
a strong and deep feeling you'd explain if you could.

But pride can have its sinister side;
a part that is sometimes quite hard to hide.

An evil side whose reign is so strong,
it won't let you admit you could have been wrong.

You've heard some people say they "swallowed their pride;"
while for others that's an answer by which they can't abide.

I've lost my best friend and can't seem to go back.
How did we ever get on the wrong track?

**If it seems almost unfinished, it does to me too; but that might be because life has only taken me to this point for right now.

They tell us to have pride in ourselves..but then turn around and say 'pride goeth before a fall'....which is it? good poem....hope to read more from you.

The message in this poem is very true. Pride can be a good thing, but can also be the ruination of some when it is so unfaltering. Hope you post more here.

Well, I agree with Denise, for one...Sheila, for two...PdV, for three...but what about me?

I believe that pride is a thing
That many good things it can always bring,
But like you, it does have its cons...
Again, like you said, it sees little in wrongs!
One thing is true; that you should have pride
In the poem you have written, Corner Pub-side!

freckles, This is really nice. It sure hit home. If I didn't let my stubborn pride get in the way, I'd probably still be with the same woman. When it comes to love, pride be damned.

I know what you mean, you can always add to a subject like this, but it's great just as it is now.
