This poem is in response to comments on "Not a Poet", a poem posted here on 2-22-2000. A Poet on the Internet! I used to be plain, ordinary, A wallflower, a nobody, you bet, But now I'm Flying High in the Fast Lane, 'Cause I'm a Poet on the Internet! No longer an anonymous stranger, My popularitys now nearly set, I'll be signing those coveted Autographs, 'Cause I'm a Poet on the Internet! My days will be happy and merry, As I haven't experienced quite yet, But that's due to change really soon now, 'Cause I'm a Poet on the Internet! My Poems will be read 'round the World, By people that I've never met, I'll be Whimsical,and so "Avant-Garde", 'Cause I'm a Poet on the Internet! My new friends at Passions are kindly, They probably won't say I'm ALL WET, They've been posting their Quality Poems, Right here on the Internet! < !signature--> Poetry is the expression of thoughts which awake the higher and nobler emotions, or their opposites, with words arranged to some accepted convention.........or maybe not! This is great! I have a question! When we get the long-awaited newsletter off the ground, would you allow us to use this poem for a special edition that we've planned. The edition will be dedicated to this very topic - Poetry on the Internet..I think it would be a great poem to lead off with! If you don't mind that is...  |
