imagine, if you will
a tiny forest glen
quiet and cool
in varying shades of green

the trees spread their arms
to protect Nature's Cathedral
encompassing the glen
in a leafy embrace
vines crawl up the rough bark
twining and weaving
around and across and through

moss carpets the floor
and emerging spring wildflowers
poke their sleepy heads
up from the wakening earth
a fallen log is your chair
soft moss and ferns
your cushion

imagine the scents
and the faint forest noises
as all the tiny creatures
watch in wonder

the tiny birds that flit
the hum of the bees
the call of the hawk
the rustle in the bushes
of a timid little hare

imagine then
spreading open a book
and starting to write poetry
of all you see
and hear
and smell
and feel

imagine what beautiful words
would come to mind in a place
such as this

This, my friends, is what XAngel said to me when I asked her how to write free verse... So I guess this is it in a nutshell..

X Angel, thank you for this beautiful walk through your forest. It gave me the inner peace I needed so much today.

I could definetely imagine this!  So serene, like I stepped out of my house and into that forest!

A lovely walk through the beautiful canvas you painted for us X Angel ....
I love the way you describe the magnificence of nature that alot of your poems reflect  ....

"the trees spread their arms
to protect Nature's Cathedral"
The imagery is wonderous in this piece.....

Hey, can you tell I really like it ?!!!
