the stars floated in their deep black sea
like wooden ships of days of old
gently moving from one point to the next.
and a gentle wind wisped and played
grabbing autumn leaves fresh fallen from trees
and took them on a loopy ride
to their final resting place.
and quietly i sat
there under an old, wide oak
listening to the everpresent symphony
of the creatures of the night:
a croak in the black distance,
spiny legs rubbing together to rival Paginini,
the low hoot of nature's oboe.
and i sighed a deep sigh of exhaustion
and rested my weary eyes a bit
thinking how happy i was to be alive.

beautiful imagery and poem of a serene moment of contentment..very nice free verse...an art I've yet to capture.
take care, janet marie

 ...every moment of every day...
your still with me in every way.
every poem and song...
every rhyme and verse...
your still here...like a beautiful curse.
your my inspiration, your my fire...
your words fill me with poetic desire.
Every moment of every day...
your still with me in every way.

Wow...
This makes me happy and content with my place in life just thinking about this poem! Incredibly good job with the free verse! I admire your writing style!

Yeah, I've yet to learn how to write in actually GOOD free verse like this...sigh...but I guess learning comes through experience!
Thanks for the great read, rich-pa!
