he forgot to listen
now silence is all he hears

he forgot to listen
his company is just his tears

if he had listened
and let her fly

if he had listened
instead of made her cry

he forgot to listen
and she slipped away

he forgot to listen
as she had her final say

I wish sometimes that I had listened to those who passed on...Great poem!  Very thought-provoking!!!

"I know I should have told you
But I was so afraid you'd leave
And now there's nothing left to say
Well nothing that you'd believe
I never meant to hurt you
With the things I couldn't say
I promise you tomorrow
While denying you today..."

I love this one...really reads well, and so much wisdom and emotion said in so few words...lovely work!
take care, janet marie

 ...every moment of every day...
your still with me in every way.
every poem and song...
every rhyme and verse...
your still here...like a beautiful curse.
your my inspiration, your my fire...
your words fill me with poetic desire.
Every moment of every day...
your still with me in every way.

Talk about putting a lot into a little space! That's what you've done here, Maya--taken a big message and put it into a simple poem. How I wish I could do that!

Beautiful piece of work, Maya!

Thanks so much guys for your wonderful replies. I wrote this on the spur of the moment, after I was feeling a bit upset with someone, and wanted him to see what he hadn't done. Dunno if it matters, or even did any good, but it's off my chest now!
Thanks for the bandaid just_another I needed it greatly!

Like everyone else i agree that you succesfully fit a huge idea into a short poem. something that`s very difficult to do. This happens to strike a personal note with me as well, as i have been in a similar situation.
"He forgot to listen now silence is all he hears" That was my favourite line. Great job Maya!

has been added to it."

Hi Maya. X Angel sent me to have a look at this poem. It's very powerful and very sad stuff.

I can relate to this. You see, I did what the guy in this poem did   Unfortunately, life isn't a VCR and there's no rewind button, no way to edit out mistakes. You have my deepest sympathy and, for what it's worth, if this guy has a single ounce of compassion in his heart, he'll regret the pain he caused you for the rest of his life.

A good poem and I hope you can move on and that your pain will ease soon.

Very well done.  For some listening is a lost art and they end up being lost themselves. Left alone with their inability to really hear, understand or feel what is truly important - to the one (or ones)who love them.  Heed what is important to others because someday you may wish it had been important to you.
