Yeah, it's another boring day
For me at my job as Surveyor.
I measure things in many ways,
And I always keep handy some Bayer.

All that math gives me a headache!

My job today was to measure a thing
That was found only days before;
A building old, but strong did bring
A feeling of awe, more and more...

It was hundreds of feet in height--
To the top it was a great climb!
I was amazed at the structure's might
As it withstood the test of time.

Centuries old? Maybe even more so,
But it's not my job to find out...
How massive it was, that I did know,
It was huge beyond a doubt!

Exactly four hundred and fourteen feet tall,
And design I had never seen--
When I got to the top, I could not fall...
It was almost like a dream--

A mysterious force, strong and sure,
Supporting me all the way.
A force I had known, with power yet pure,
Kept me going through many a day.

But why see it here? It wasn't the place
For such a force to exist--
A building of old, with an ancient face
And in quite obscure a mist?

Then I knew...

This power had found its own way here,
But followed me some of the time.
Guided by hints I left that adhere
To this place with a wealth of rhyme.

As I finished up and was nearly done,
I felt a little extra boost
That got me back home by the set of the sun,
I was glad I hadn't vamoosed
When I first saw this place
With an ancient face
Represented by an emotion...
That produces a very strong potion.
It has the power to cure
Even when you're unsure
Of how to get out of the 'hole' you're in
And it can show you that you can win.
With help from all its elements mixed,
You can be sure many problems are fixed.

To all of you here at Passions, you've helped me a lot through this...uh...problem of mine.
Especially to Exile, I hope you can decode the height of the building into what it really says! And that thing that kept me from falling? Well, let's just say it's like old, OLD antigravity tech!
Thanks...

...to you all.

Now for me some words come easy...
But I know that they don't mean that much
Compared with the things that are said when lovers touch.
You never knew what I loved in you--
I don't know what you loved in me...
Maybe the picture of somebody you were hoping I might be...
How long have I been sleeping-
How long have I been drifting alone through the night...
How long have I've dreaming I could make it right...
If I closed my eyes and tried with all my might
To be the one you need...

Thank you, "Sam". It's lovely (as almost all of your work is), and I'm relieved to know everything is OK here.

GREAT embedded code! It took me a few minutes. I'm not sure I'm ready to be a "gray eminence", as your poem describes; but then, I'm not ready to be a grandfather either, and that's probably not too far away....(But no hurry, OK??) Anytime you need help, or someone to talk to, remember that I'm here, and remember how much your mom and I love you.

To all of our friends here: Please continue to support and enjoy "Sam's" work. You have all taught me so much in this short time. I started here just to participate in "Sam's" world, but quickly got caught up in the love and beauty so freely expressed here in the Pub. I may not contribute as frequently in the future, but will be here as often as I can, reading and commenting. Thank you all very much indeed.

Sam, my admiration for you grows by the day. Not only do you show me, time after time, you have a great talent, you also show a wisdom beyond the years you truly are.   If you were my son, I'd be mighty proud of you.
I hope you'll be able to see your Dad did this out of love and concern for you and even more than that, I hope you can continue the exceptional bond you have developped as Spyro and Exile.

on reading it i was quite sure of the symbolism and underlying message but had no idea what it was.  after reading the posts though, it was ezplained.  first, the poem was great.  it used excllent imagery and the symbolism just hit you like a brick...i'm also happy to see a father and son together like that.  you don't see that too often

It's nice to see you posting again, Sam! You and your father have a great relationship! It is so refreshing to see! I can't say that I have decoded the poem but what I did understand was wonderful!
