14,000 Things to be Happy About (#51)

I usually post these in Open Forum or Critical Analyses, but this one seemed a good opening for introducing myself right here.

Now I go down to Hooligan's to have myself a slug,
And just the time that I am tossing down my second mug,
Old Flannery, he asks me if I happen to have knowed
That Jules has opened up a new saloon across the road,
So he and I we wander out and cross the street to find
If this new place has beer to match the old familiar kind.
And it is pretty good, and yet to be quite clear of doubt,
I head back to the first pub from the which I started out.
And it is just this time that first I notice that the street
Is not quite flat.  It slopes up rather gently 'neath my feet,
But isn't much, so I forget it, until I start back
An hour or so later and, what do you know, the track
Rises pretty steep towards Jules', so I am breathing some,
And I need several ales to catch my breath.  Then back I come
To Hooligan's, but by this time, the climb is straight uphill.
I never crossed a road so steep, but I climb on until
I have to crawl right up the slope, and almost at the door,
I lose my grip and roll back down to Jules' saloon once more.
I lie there in the gutter, feeling sick and seeing stars,
And all along of that pair of -- UNEVEN PARALLEL BARS.

Ted,

Excellent poem. Welcome to the Pub. It's nice to see someone who's been around Passions finally make it to the Pub. Don't be a stranger. Drop in from time-to-time to share some cheer.

Well, sounds to me
like your a Pub hopper
type of guy.
Had you stayed
at the first Pub
the scenerio here
would not have played.
We could have danced
till the stars
were out of sight,
never realizing
we drank away the night.

"...we were born before the wind...also younger than the sun...
and my heart you have won...as we sailed into the mystic...
I just want to rock your gypsy soul-
just like in the days of old...
and together we will float-into the mystic...

Tut, tut, Nurse Crachet, you ought to know drinking and dancing don't mix.  You mustn't lose your mind two ways at the same time!

Yet if two minds exist as one
does that mean none can have fun?
Why cannot drinking and dancing combine
and make for an evening dressed just fine?

Ted, I like what ya wrote up there
But I must also make ya aware
Careful for that Crachet thing
before ya know it she'll have ya sing
Right now she's dancing in 6 open
Leaving many heartbroken !

Don't say I didn't warn ya !
