I can hear the laughter dying
It was never meant to stay
The happy little moment
Has disapeered, along with the summer day
The bright lights of the carnival
Blind my eyes
In the black of night
The rides and games all in the past...
I'm grounded,
No longer taking flight.
I can hear the distant music
Playing in my ears
But the laughter,
The sweetest melody,
Shedding me from the darkened sky
Has drifted all away
How can I not, but cry?

Lovely poem, Joy.  Don't worry, you'll have many more days like that soon. Hey, summer will be here quick enough.

You have expressed yourself wonderfully in this piece, I can see why you feel the need to cry, but I agree with the others, there will be many more days ahead such as this one!

Just be glad I'm not your child! *evil grin*

Thanks.  Don't I know it!  I can't wait until my summer days of freedom and content!  Anyone want to count the days with me?

I can't wait for summer either Joy!!  I need to get my glove out and oil it for the many days of bats, softballs, short pants, and crazy looking hats!  Don't worry, I'm heavily anticipating summer too...

 "...at night I cling to you I'm so afraid;
afraid the day will come
and I'll wake up and find you gone.
But you promise that you'd not abandon me
and kissed my fears away
but I woke up to that day..."
