When I
was a kid (well
technically I still am),
I liked to turn on the headlights
of my mom's car right after she started
it. I would twist the knob up all the way some-
times, up all the way to the highbeams. And when we were
driving up a pitch-black mountain road, I would always bring
the biggest, brightest flashlight I could find in the house and shine it
out the side window, illuminating the rock face we were driving beside. Those were
the days, all right. These days, I mostly write poetry. Now, I know there shouldn't be much similarity between flashlights and poetry, but there is.
Sometimes, I just...
I just feel like
shining some
light into
other
people's
lives.

Sam, I hope that light will be there for you also, when you need it. Please remember that, sometimes, when the road is dark for you, there are others trying to hold the light up to illuminate your life as well.

Nice job, Sam.

Hey, If you're in a vehicle going the speed of light, what happens when you turn on the headlights?

The light always shines upon you, sometimes you just have to look for it.  Nice

This is great Spyro!  I love this analogy!  (well it is somewhat of one anyway)

Joy

 Devotion

The heart can think of no devotion
Greater than being shore to the ocean-
Holding the curve of one position,
Counting an endless repetiton.

Thanks, everyone!!

And Gene--
I don't know what would happen...hmm...maybe it would light up the body of the vehicle itself!
That'd save you all the trouble of having to paint it just the right color you want...all you'd have to do is change the color of the lights!

Thank you for shining your flashlight into my life...I appreciate it.

What an interesting, thoughtful poem!  I see two meanings of shinging light into peoples' lives - one, the commonly accepted one in the comments here that you light the way or make their lives brighter, but the other being that you show things that perhaps could not be seen without your light.  Isn't it interesting how what we write can be seen in so many different ways?

To love another person is to see the face of God.

little d...

you are a beacon in the night
you are a night-light at my feet
you shine with your brilliance
and i hear music
sweet music to my ears
a melody that calms my soul
you are a light to open my eyes
you light up a page
you light up my smile
you are a beacon
in your own right...

hugs, dg

Sam; All I see is a heart that is so kind and so full of goodness with a desire to shine a light on others, that this thought comes from your heart is the only light you need. Heartlights are brighter than the sun!  Ellie
