~Butterflies Are Meant To Be Free~

How do I tell you-what your love has come to mean-to me...
How do I let go of you, when its time...the way you need to be.
How do I make you realize the beauty... in you...that my heart sees,
How do I truly return your love...if only by now accepting...
Butterflies are meant to be free.

I cannot deny...my heart is breaking,
I cannot say...that I'm not shaken.
I will not promise-that I wont cry...
but-I do love you enough...to open my heart...and let you fly...

With in these moments shared, you've given me trust and love-unconditionally,
I have grown so much in the light of your love... I have finally,now-found...me,
Your love, and all your hearts gifts-have made me stronger, helping me to believe...
I truly do now... understand and accept...just like you...
Butterflies are meant to be free...

Janet Marie

dedicated to my beautiful butterfly...I know you fly free now baby...I love you..always

Beautiful poem, Janet!
I've always liked butterflies...and dragonflies too, but you can't really put them in a poem...

See? You've got just as much talent as anyone else here at the Pub!

Hope you enjoy your stay!

If the purpose of art is to evoke emotion, this one has succeeded magnificently. One would have to be a stone not to feel what you are feeling.

This is one of those poems that you really wish you knew more details about...and yet, shy away from at the same time.

I wish I could have broken up with someone like that, with this level of understanding, without the rancor and bitterness....

Please post more of your poems.

"To you, my children, These lovely flowers I give.
Prune ye my vines and fig trees,
With care my flowerets tend,
But keep the pathway open,
Your home is at the end."

So true and so beautifully said.
I had to set mine free also--the hardest thing to do in my life.

"It often comes to me at night
When lights are dim
And thoughts are bright.

As I ponder what to write,
Take pen in hand And with it make
My words appear as no mistake.

Guided by a force unknown,
I create a new And wondrous poem." ~Gene~

It's 3am I must be lonely,

Well I can't help but be scared of it all sometimes,
Says the rains gonna wash away I believe it."
