The hall was crowded as entered the man
Who was welcomed openly
By all that attended, from throughout the land
They came for this event to see;
The man who wrote great things and does
Still, to all he shows
One of the newest, and greatest because
His subjects he very well knows;
For he is the ruler of what he does write
And writes he does very good;
You can see in him wisdom's soft light
And sometimes I wish that I could
Write something as he would.
This man is free
So now we all may see
Exile's great poetry.

A very special welcome to Exile!

This is a very lovely welcome to Exile, Sam!
I'm sure he'll love it! His words do speak his wisdom....but then yours possess that quality also!

Little Spyro, I'm very touched by your verse of greeting. Words fail me here....

You, and your work here, more than anything else inspired me to post my humble verse. For a person of such tender age, you have a great talent for putting emotion into rhyme.

I very much appreciate the "red carpet", and am honored to be here among the talent I see.
Perhaps I'll try again when the Muse comes back....

Spyro, a personal question, if I may: Can you tell me who you lost, that inspired your poem on losing a loved one? I'm sure most of us have lost someone close to us; some permanently, and some for a long time, but then we got them back. Please share this story with us.

I look forward to more of your poetry, Little Spyro, and to corresponding with you in future.

What a lovely welcome to Exile!

Prune ye my vines and fig trees,
With care my flowerets tend,
But keep the pathway open,
Your home is at the end."

Okay, boys and girls, gather around...lol

The date: April 4, 1996
The location: Palm Court Apartments,        Orchard Road, Singapore

I had been 'sent' to Singapore on kind of a research mission. It just so happened that my dad was being sent to the same place as well, so we decided to go for the whole thing--take my mom as well. Since we didn't know how long we were going to be there, we sold our house...that was the first loss. It was a very comfortable 6-bedroom house, and I had lived most of my early years there. The Apartments were nice, but it still lacked something...
Later, after I had moved in more and got accustomed to my surroundings, I met a Malaysian-American girl named Karen...
For a little less than a month she was...almost like a sister to me. She taught me a lot about the place and was very (but not overly) friendly to me.
Then I had to leave.
My parents decided my 'mission' was pretty much up, and it helped that my dad was also being transferred back to the States. So I sullenly packed my bags and left.
Since Karen didn't have a computer, and even though she had a house she didn't have a mailbox, I lost all contact with her.

So it's not a 'death' in a literal sense...
And she really did teach me to fly.

I'd be glad to, O Devine One! lol

Hey, since I get to watch the door...does this mean I'm a "guardian dragon"?

I'll see who else comes in!

Excellent Sam!!  Your hiatus didn't slow your ability to write - and write well - and make one feel very welcome in the Pub!!
