The Beauty of a Rose

Sweet goddess of the petalled realm
With velvet petticoats of red
Awakens with the morning sun
And shows her skirts in flower bed
Why so intriguing no one knows
That is the beauty of a rose

Sweet cooing of the mourning dove
At dawn her songs so mesmerize
She croons a song from in the eaves
That sounds of lovers lullabies
Descending soft from up above
That is the cooing of the dove

Sweet teardrops sit on leaf and blade
Small crystal balls of morning mist
Til sun embraces with its warmth
And melts them with a loving kiss
As fresh and pure as words from you
That is the splendor of the dew

Sweet beauty of a crimson rose
Sweet cooing of a mourning dove
Sweet teardrops in the morning mist
That is the splendor of our love
Soft lovely wet of morning dew
That is a tender kiss from you

Elizabeth Santos

Frustration is probably the wrong feeling to have right now, but I can't help it!!!
Why can't I write as good as you, or portray emotions as well?!
sigh...
Beautiful poem, truly great piece.

I found this breath taking.. Very well done..

MAY THE ROAD RISE TO MEET YOU,
MAY THE WIND BE ALWAYS AT YOUR BACK
MAY THE SUN SHINE UPON YOUR FACE
THE RAINS FALL SOFT UPON YOUR FIELDS
AND, UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN,
MAY GOD HOLD YOU IN THE PALM OF HIS HAND

This is lovely, I think it is beautiful like a crimson red rose shining with dew. I love it!

Love and hugs,

Wow, look at what you can find when you dig around a little...I think I'm going to become an archive-searcher. This was breathtakingly beautiful, Elizabeth. I wish I could express how it made me feel.

Elizabeth ,
Looks like you've been digging in the attic. I didn't even remember this and had to read it to recall what it was about
Thank you for your sweet comments

A rose is a rose is a rose,
maybe so but I know one thing for certain your poem was truely beauty.

Oh, Elizabeth~
What a beauty to find unfolding ...
this crimson rose is exquisite.

Somehow I missed this little gem ...
I'm so glad someone dug in the garden.
