Who knows what inspires our poetry? I've read Ron's poem "How Long" a few times and been struck by the questions he asks therein. But tonight, after reading the poem again, and the responses he received, I felt inspired to write the following poem. Please do not jump to conclusions..it is not a confession, merely a poetic response to an inspiring poem (thank you Ron!).

The years pass by uncounted
But the minutes I know by name
Each second since I’ve loved you
No measurement is the same

The time it took to make a star
Means naught to me you see
For in that star I see the love
That I wish you had for me

The jungle beasts may be subdued
But my heart will not be tamed
I’ll not hold back a nanosecond
Though to say this, I’m ashamed

My love took not a moment
To find a home in my heart
I know not when it will end
Nor am I sure when it did start

In the clock held in my heart
Time is measured not in space
But measured in the times I’m held
Within your loving embrace

This is really a wonderful poem, PdV - Ron's work has a tendency to do that to you. He certainly is my inspiration...

How truly intimate and filled with love.  I thoroughly enjoy poetry of this type and admire all who can freely express their love for someone.  Absolutely beautiful PdV.

I can't add any more to what was said here...but PdV you're such a great poet and I wish you'd post more often here!   Loved this one!
