For all the questions in the world
I choose to ask this one
Why am I so blessed with good
That I take for granted?
While others have not such good fortune?
I ask this question
But the answer's not important
Because I'll just be grateful every day
For everything I am
For everything I have
For my whole existance on this earth.

The answer is really quite a simple one...
Your attitude in life entreats a positive existence....
"Smile and the world smiles with you"

Nan, I know that one. It's a favorite of mine.

Smile and the world smiles with you
Weep and you weep alone
For the sad old earth must borrow its mirth
And has trouble enough of its own

Or something like that! Don't know who wrote that either, but I like it!

A good question, Joy, and the same can be said of your attitude. (Seems you are appropriately named.)

Set every threadbare sail-
And give her to the god of storms,
The lightning and the gale!

Yes, it seems I am. Filled with "joy", most of the time anyway.

Thanks for all your replies.

Funny how a little gratitude can change our outlook on life! Very well done, Joy, and with such an excellent message!

Wouldn't it be great if we all had such a positive outlook on life.  Positive breeds positive and could extinguish the negative.  Great poem.

Attitude is everything.......life is 1% what happens to you and 99% how you respond to it.  Great work, Joy.

Joy, Maybe it was fate that this one was brought back now. I'm sure you could use a little of your own good medicine right now.
Read it over again and again, then that flu won't feel so bad.

freckles,  I thought it was 99% how you respond and the other 50% what happens.

A very good question indeed, but like Nan said, I think it's your attitude towards everything that determines how fortunate you are...
I know I'm very fortunate to have all of you here at Passions to read the work I pump out...even when it's not that good. Thank you all for being there, posting poems for me to read when I'm feeling down...
