Ode to incandescence

Oh incandescent lighting
for years adorned our eaves,
Bringing christmas tidings
with softly twinkling ease,
Season after season
you bore the ice and snow,
Oh faithful decorations
with cheery christmas glow,
But time and tide advances
oh cursed technology,
More energy efficient
new fangled L.E.D.,
So to keep up with the neighbors,
and to save a buck, or three
I purchased reels a plenty,
of brand new R.G.B.
Happily I strung them,
though snow fell hard, about
And waking up, this chilly morn,
found half the lights were out!
I hate to mount that soap box,
I'm no Xmas party pooper,
But sometimes new technology
Isn't all that super.

Is this heaven?

shoeless Joe Jackson.

Enjoyed!

While trimming 'round the tree about
I just took down a string half out!

Lovely and cute poem, dear Olias. Oh you both brought a smile. The electrical and electronic glitterings will never ever match the pure magic of simple candles, as I remember them on our tree in my childhood. But outside of course they had no chance to withstand the weather.

Rooooooooooon, the Christmas caps on the smilies please don't forget!!

Love and peace.

laughing because the same thing happened to me when I put my garlands up...

good thing I had quite a few extra boxes of old lights that had never been opened...

( I actually went on a buying spree last month of all the light bulbs that are supposed to be wasteful. I  think I have a supply for the rest of my life now.)

Thanks Nakdthoughts for your reply, good idea buying up all the incandescents, but just keep an eye on your electric meter, don't want any nasty out of pocket surprises in the new year, be well and have a very Merry Xmas.
