Your laughter soaks the wall,
and rings through the house.
You smiled a peevish smile
But we were glad that you did.

Silly presents with no meaning spoil under this june sun.
For once we learned you were leaving,
all purpose in Christmas went along

This is were faith smiles and says success.
All the gifts remained untouched,
not a sight of us in the pawn

We all stared at your fresh pants,
fresh out the store completely free.
You smile and say "You gotta live it up, man"
We were young and we did, and try not to look back,
at you,

cuffing the floor with your back heel,
every morning when you forget your coffee,
and you spin like a car gone wild,
just to taste a fresh brew cup of joe,
french vanilla,
for the last time,

So when the winter blows long and empty
We know you stole its warmth away....
