Children rushing down the stairs
To see if Santa left them toys
Mom and dad follow sleepily
(They were awakened by the noise)
Shouts of glee and laughter
Ring out in early morn
As ribbons are untied
And wrapping paper torn
Stockings hang from chimneys
With candy and fruit galore
As they fill their little tummies
Till they can eat no more

But there is no joy there in Iraq
Where children live in fear
And our soldiers, apart from loved ones
Must carry on and persevere
Dodging bullets from the enemy
Patrolling the desert in the night
They won't have a Merry Christmas
They aren't home tonight
So let this be our Christmas Prayer
"Dear Lord in Heaven above
Let there be Peace on Earth
Keep safe all those we love."

Amen.

The Spirit of Christmas..
with the true gifts of love.
May all the world's children be given a reason to believe.

Thanks Enchantress.  Hard to believe, but I wrote this in 2004 originally, and here we are...two years later and NOTHING has changed!

May God bring our boys home soon.

Bea~
What a beautiful blessing of a prayer thought~

We are reminded that there are those all over the world who will not be able to be home with their families at Christmas time ... and we will hold them all in prayer~

Thanks Marge...This season will be especially hard on all those families who will be facing the empty chair at the table.  Let us remember them as well, and pray that this madness will son be over.

Hi Joyce...Amen...I would also add to that prayer that God guides the powers that be in  Washington, to nudge our President into being more concerned with the welfafe of our OWN soldiers than in foreign countries, and bring our boys home soon!
