Hurricane Alley

0 posted 2004-12-12 07:29 PM

From a soft, sweet desert breeze
To a tropical hurricane squall
Changes blew across my year
Both monumental and small

No casual tossing out of old
To replace with shiny new
With all these memories behind us
How could I replace friends such as you?

To rearrange my life it took
A thousand miles and many tears
Facing forward I saw uncharted future
Looking back, the fullness of years

With fingertips I held onto you
And all the blessings given to me
But with my other hand I reached out
To seek a new life’s destiny

I turn around and see the turmoil
Engulfing my yesterday friends
Feeling helpless to give comfort
As change and tumult descends

The past and future meld as one
Holding pain and joy and sorrow
Grief of death and joy of birth
Our yesterday and tomorrow

The gentle tropical breezes blow
Whispering of a winter shower
Smiling, I know I’ll see you again
If it’s within my power

Wow what a year you had, and beautifully composed to tell the tale.  The worst part was not in getting where you were going was it, but instead getting there and experiencing more rain than I bet you saw in all your time in the desert?  Quite a year, and quite an accomplishment as well.
