The Witches of Salem

Come out in the thick of the harbor mist
A Halloween treat that you can’t resist
Come out tonight and we’ll have some fun
The witches of Salem are on the run!

Watch out for the smell of a witches brew
It could be a treat that was meant for you
Don’t turn back now - Don’t look behind
Just follow the scent of the stewing brine

We can’t turn around in the churning wind
The footsteps behind us are closing in
A witches brew could be our fate
We’ll take the path through the graveyard gate

A witch is afraid of the graveyard mist
A Halloween venture we can’t resist
There’s a voice of a sailor who whispers your doom
For beside his bones lies an empty tomb

Watch out for the voice of a graveyard ghoul
He watches the path for an innocent fool
Never look back at the path we’ve come
The ghoul of the graveyard is on the run!

Let’s walk on past the old “Phantom” ship
On Halloween night into port it will slip
The ghost of the vessel will sing you a song
Come aboard, young lady, where you belong

Just keep on walking and don’t look back
His eyes and nose are hollow and black
And never repeat the song he has sung
For the ghost of the “Phantom” is on the run!

Look out for the goblins and ghosts and ghouls!
They beg for a treat when they trick the fools
The witches of Salem
are on the run!
Six pitter pat feet
that are just
having fun!

Trick or Treat, Liz.. This is indeed a fantastic treat... I'm glad you're writing - and you did this one in ANAPESTIC meter - I love it - as always..

Thanks, Nan, This one was inspired by all those old graveyards in New England and of course the mist, the mystical mist.
I will never forget our days together at your home.
Love ya
Liz

Liz, Nan took me to those graveyards and couldn't get me out!  I loved them!  I had never seen anyone dead that long LOL.

This is so cute, printed it for Tori to read at school (she will say Gramma's friend wrote it.)

Liz, that was a wonderfully eerie Hallowe'en poem! It is a shame that more people didn't get to read it! I wish you could post it in Open!

Very well done and very much enjoyed!
