"How did the cat get so fat?" - NOFX

why give us freedom?
for your freedom rapes me of mine
and my mind is nothing like yours
for you see devils in my angels
--a radical dead to a reactionists
point of view
that states, we are free
but i don't see freedom
in this facist capitalistic society
that the G.O.P. hides under the name
republican
and the liberals of our society
only fight for those who look good
(a.k.a. hollywood)

I enjoyed this piece a lot but does this really have much to do with the Holiday spirit of the 4th of july? I see that it, in a sense, puts down the United States.
Well anyhow, I liked the poem.

I was born myself, raised myself, and will continue to be myself. The world will just have to adjust.

I'm in love with my shadow
I admire it daily

You're right on both viewpoints. But, there must be more than one side, or else our society would become stagnant.
Good read.

I love this poem as well! I'v read all of them and every one seems to touch deep. You have a gift with this even if they seem so sorrowful. Most of my poems are sad too.
I'm trying to figure out the meaning of this one. I feel like its related to the fact that you lived in Saudi Arabia until you were 15 and even though America is supposed to be free we have so many,,, limits and restrictions and horrible things that happen often.
Keep writing, I love to read these poems!
