Dependant from draped boughs of green
festooned with baubles bright ,
Aloft o'er cherished manger scene
on cotton snow of white .
Our hopes reflect as twinkling stars
resplendantly to glow ,
reflected in the eyes of those
we've gathered close for 'lo...

The figurines unpacked again
now take their rightful place ,
as if brought forth to testify
our homes and hearths they grace ,
as joyous sounds of voices raised
in animation swell ,
and peals of laughter ring out loud
"Sleigh Ride" , and " Silver Bells "...

Play softly in pine scented air
and help maintain this spell ,
when peace bestows for moment brief
the sense that all is well .
Too soon lament the cycles end
when all is packed away ,
stowed safe within our hearts again
until next Christmas day ...

And yet surely some echo faint
remains when thoughts are clear ,
dependant now upon ourselves
to bring to this New Year .

Doc, when I see your name, I wait for the punch line...

but this time, it is a splendid line indeed, and the warmth emanates from someone wonderful...

you...

The title is great too!

We can carry those moments with us all year long, can't we? Lovely poem, Dr.Moose!

Sunshine,
Well , we can't just be frivolous all the time , running willy-nilly through life , now can we ? Oh , okay , maybe we can .Glad you enjoyed .

Doc
Dopey_Dope,
Thanks , actually the title didn't occur to me until I re-read it a few times and realized that the rhyme and meter would fit to the original song .
Doc
