When Cherubs Flutter Down

In darkened room, I turn the switch
And stand before the tree;
Unbridled halo, of heavenly light
Miraculous to see.
A tickle on my shoulder
Softly ruffling my hair
And candlelight starts dancing
As golden glitter fills the air.
This fairyland, which so few know
Eludes both time and space.
This simple land of merriment
Reflects in a smiling face.
My age, it doesn’t matter
When cherubs flutter down
To the playground of my shoulder
Where there are no earthly bounds.

Welcome to Passions! This was a beautiful poem. It brought an image to mind of a Christmas tree standing in a darkened room, with all the tree lights glowing. Wonderful work!

Thank you, Elizabeth. I'm an older person, but still feel
that special, child-like magic, when the tree is decked
and all lights are out, except the ones on the tree. I wanted
to share this feeling with others, through verse.
I'm so happy you enjoyed it.   Thank you for commenting.

Lovely, lovely, Cynthia!  You are "A Dove" from Papa's Circle, right? Great to see you here, either way, wonderfully tender poem, filled with sparkling joy.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,

Thank you all, so much for your kind thoughts.
*Hugs* Yes.. from Papa's & The Nest.
Great to see you again. Christmas is a wonderful
time, when everyone, at any age, can feel the magic and spread the joy that sometimes
gets lost in scraps of everyday to-do lists.
Happy Holidays & Merry Christmas To All !
