Our eyes meet across the crowded room and everyone there fades away. We smile quietly, lovingly, on this, our wedding day. Our love was unexpected, But we know God played a part In bringing us together To share one life, one heart. We have one very simple goal, To cherish our hopes and dreams To show those whose lives we touch Our love is as strong as it seems. Today we’ve pledged to bear each other’s joys and strife. Fervent in the belief that we were destined to be man and wife. Two years ago, some dear friends of mine got married..February 14, 1998...this is the poem I wrote for them. He was married when they met, in a marriage long dead. She worked for him. There was a lot of gossip about them at the time, but through it all, I saw the love shine in their eyes. It was meant to be.... |
