from “Keep Your Eyes Upon Jesus” message
by Jim Simpson 8/4/02

Focus

Where do your eyes turn?
What do they see?
How does your mind help
the view that there be?

If you have a doughnut
all covered with sweet,
is your eye on the hole
or the part that you eat?

When you’re given treasures,
where is your praise?
When you’re given troubles,
what questions do you raise?

When storms make you tremble
and shake in the night,
do you beg for their departure
to ease well your fright,

or do you look to the Master,
seeking solitude,
asking for His presence,
until the storm’s subdued?

Help me, oh, Maker,
oh, Sweet Lord of Hosts
reside in Your nature,
Your word my guidepost.

from “Keep Your Eyes Upon Jesus” message
by Jim Simpson 8/4/02

Not On a Distant Shore

Looking unto Jesus,
focusing my sight,
hoping for His guidance
the glimmer of His light.

Rocks and waves
rise up to complain,
bringing me calamity,
if I’ll join the refrain.

He’s not on a distant shore
waiting on a rough-hewn rock,
but with me evermore
ev’ry tick of the clock.

Steadfast, I profess,
to wholeheartedly believe,
and by His strength and power,
I’ll willingly receive.

Not by a strong ambition
or by a force that is my own,
but by the blessings of His nature
more eternal than stone

A very positive message.  Not by power, not by might, but by my Spirit says the Lord.  I do love your "focus" here upon the Lord.  So many times, it is true, we do turn to our own abilities rather than turning to Him who holds the true answers in life. Again, a very good message here that challenges us to look toward and foreword a not so distant shore.  GOD bless.  -Bob

Oh yes. It's only on when I'm in the house of the Lord that I am truly fed. Both good messages.

I think your minister must be pleased to have such an avid listener.  It must make up for some of those nodding heads.  Love, Joyce
