I had this young mother come into the store (I work at a christian bookstore) with her little girl.  She was quite disfigured, with a Cleft Pallet, and a harelip.  It broke my heart.  The mom wanted to shop, but the little girl was just crying her heart out.  I didn't have anyone else in here, so I offered to hold her and read to her if she would let me.  I pulled her into my lap and read a  couple of books to her, she cuddled up and sat and listened.  We did fine until I started to read You Are Special by Max Lucado.  You Are Special is a book about how God loves us, and that His opinion of us is all that ever matters, and He loves us just because He made us.  I was about half way through reading the book to this little girl when it really hit me, I started to cry.  Her mother had come over and sat down next to us, she was crying too.
Some day I am going to be old enough to start carrying around Kleenex stuffed into various places, but at the moment, I just had to let the tears fall onto the little girls hair.  By the time we were done, we were both soggy.  The only thing they bought was that book.
The little girl was too young to understand why Mom and I were crying, I know that she will be in for a lifetime of hurt from the world.  I just hope that she will hold onto the sentiment of that book forever, and remember that no matter what God loves her just the way she is.

miriam:  This is so heart-wrenching and moving. I do hope the mother will have the little girl's face repaired surgically. Once she starts school, she is likely to be so challenged and harassed. We had a family member, born this way, but after a couple of surgeries, you can barely tell.

(tears fall down my cheeks) Oh Miriam, this is sooooooo heartwrenchingly beautiful, sweet friend, my heart goes out to this sweet little girl and while I know she will face more peer pressure that soon she will meet those who can relate to her, for He thinks every one of us is special and she is a blessed loving girl bound to rise with compassion! (sad sigh) My thoughts and prayers are with you all, sweet friend, God Bless You All, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Miriam, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

There is so much the doctors can do now for this condition.
I do hope the mother looks into it for the child's sake.
Wonderful heart-wrenching story, perfectly penned.

What a loving heart you have.  It is easy for all of us to love and cuddle a beautiful child, but some of us are not so free with love for the little unfortunates.  I do hope the mother can get the surgery the child needs.  I am sure there are places she can go even if she cannot  afford this herself.  The Shriners have a wonderful hospital where they treat children who need their help.  And here in Seattle we have the orthopedic hospital that survives on donations from Orthopedic Leagues.  Love, Joyce

MyCafe: your words are very touching...thank you.

One Arm:  I am just doing what I would like done unto me.  Yes maybe the Lord used me, but my only intentions are for people to see the Lord through me and the only way to do that is through my actions.

Joyce:  When the mother comes in here I will let her know about the program in Seattle, see what she thinks of it. thankyou.

You guys are wonderful, I am glad to have found a family like you.

I praise God because he knows exactly what He is doing...  He allowed you that moment in time and relationship with the little girl, so you could minister to her needs. He helped you pick out the absolutely, without a doubt, correct book to read. He even led you here so you could share your experiences with us. And then, he has made a way for those who have ideas on improving the child's condition to share there concerns here with you, the child, and her mother. I can't help but believe that something wonderful and miraculous will happen from all this. Amen. What a beautiful testimony you've shared.  Thank you so very much for your sensitivity and concern.  God bless. -Bob

I can't believe I overlooked this message. Forgive me. After reading it, and having my mother come in and read it too, we were both in tears. This is heart wrenching and heart warming at the same time. God will bless what you have done and the child as well. I will keep her in my prayers always.
