Lost Lake

In the gray of early morning,
There is nothing I like more,
Than to set canoe a-drifting
Through the reeds along the shore.
There's a mist upon the water
And a chill upon the air
And the distant banks are hidden
By the shadows lying there.

Then my paddle causes ripples
And the light begins to grow.
Now the eastern sky is painted
With a rose and saffron glow.
While I watch and wait and shiver,
Just to see the sun's first ray
Cast it's gold upon the water
And God's blessing on the day!

Noah:  Thanks for your wonderful comments.  There really is a Lost Lake and in describing one morning I spent there, it did feel like God was there also.

It is so easy to see why this has been published! It truly touches the heart and dampens the eyes with its beauty.

Is this Oregon's Lost Lake? Curious.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

VAS:  Thanks for reading and commenting. No, this is not Oregon's Lost Lake although I have been there too.  This one is in NE Washington state, near the Canadian border. I lived in Oregon, various places, for many years.  Lovely state and the coast is my favorite place to be.
