I Asked

I asked of GOD a treasure,
He gave me thorns instead.
I asked of GOD a kingdom,
He placed them on His head.
I asked of GOD a future,
He forgave all my past.
I asked of GOD adventure,
He far my burdens cast.
I asked of GOD a power,
He gave me wilted reed.
I asked of GOD abundance,
His scars began to bleed.
I asked of GOD a fortress,
He broke my heart in two.
I asked of GOD a courage,
He helped me make it through.
I asked of GOD a beauty,
He dropped his purple robe.
I asked of GOD well-being,
His back withstood the load.
I asked of GOD an honor,
He rose up on the cross.
I asked of GOD a miracle,
And now all but Christ is loss.

You humble me with one of the best you've ever written. You've penned a lot to be thankful for in every verse.

Thank you,

This nearly brought me to tears and definitely to my knees. You have demonstrated with your beautiful words that God always gives us what we need, not what we ask of Him. I hope you don't mind, I have printed this and hung it on my bulletin board. Thank you. Marti

(tears fall down my cheeks) God Bless You, sweet friend, I cried reading this knowing despoite His crucifixion, Christ lives on and His largesse and infinite Love and courage is mounted upon that cross and that because we live, He lives on with us all and nothing can shackle that as long as we hold firm to the doctrine! (big hugggssssssss) This is wonderful, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Robert, thank you for sharing!

May love and light awlays shine upon you!

The wisdom bestowed to us through "his" works and words are not always easy to accept, but once accepted, the peace, harmony, and comfort can never be equaled.  You show much in this piece of yours, including how important it is to have faith and accept that "he" not only knows what it is we need but died on the cross for us so we would be able to have this eternal love.  Well written in composition and in spirit and a lesson for us all to hold on to.

This poem is undoubtably beautiful, and most spiritual.  The poem practically brought a tear to my eye.

Awe-inspiring work...

wonderful, wonderful, Bob!
It's similar to others I've read, but it has its own unique perspective. Very powerful! May I share with your name attached, of course?
