My homeland is not of the world

0 posted 2002-06-01 02:44 PM

I started this poem, and realized that it sounded alittle like a song.  Then agian, I could've just imagined it, it wouldn't be the first     Btw, I know the name isn't original, and I'll probably change it if I can come up with another one.

He Has Risen
by,
Matt

Jesus died for me
So that I may see
I am not condemned
But that's not the end

God raised him from the grave
So we may be saved
He raised him from below
So that we may follow

This we know is true
He died to save you
We know because the God of hosts
Sent to us the Holy Ghost

Now he's with us all
He lifts us when we fall
It's with truth we speak
Of that Holy week

The stone was set aside
And mary stood and cried
For he has risen
He has risen
Hallelujah, Amen

This was going to be the first in a series of 4 poems that I was going to post one per day, for 4 days, but It fit's good alone aswell, and I haven't started on the 2nd poem.  I finished the 3rd, but I still have to do the ending of the 4rth as well.

Yes, I tried singing this and I think it could be sung.  I would change rose to raised to be gramatically correct and I think it sounds smoother.  Joyce

Yeah, I had raised at first, but thought rose was the correct way to say it.  Oh well.  Thanks for the replys

I hope I didn't hurt your feelings Encarta.
I thought about it and came back to erase it, but you had already seen it.  Christ rose or arose.  God raised Him or could raise Him.   Joyce

Encarta:

This is an interesting poem and you're right, it could be set to music and perhaps should be.  The message is always timely and welcome.

You've done well
This could easily be put to music, I believe.

A good follow up of the immortal hymn, “One Day”.

Thanks. I hope you complete your series soon.
