For Every Ear, a Tongue

wouldn’t it be wonderful
if there were a language
reserved for brotherhood
one that would speak of
compassion, empathy
and good

a language that would bring
understanding that knew
nary any bounds
where words expressed
would touch the heart
of each hearer within range
and give no misconception
only honest, true exchange

a language that soothed the sinew
of every warring beast
one that brought the life blood
to wondrous loving feast

words that every ear around the world
couldn’t help but comprehend
and every ounce of anguished spoil
would  finally find an end

no more would fists be raised
only open hands of praise
no more would smoke consume
lives as battles had been waged

on every tongue, in every ear
harmony and accord
because the words sung or spoken
were blessed fully by the Lord

“I want to teach the world to sing,”
was chorused years ago
but how can one teach harmony
until the words are known

we need another day
like that day at Pentecost
when tongues of fire alit on souls
and each ear that heard
was sure
of all that had been uttered
in God’s Sweet Spirit du jour

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

(big hugggsssssss) Yes I agree, we all need more days like these where we all harken and look up to Him and find all the light we desire in His loving presence! (sigh) This is marvelous, sweet friend, God Bless You, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Virginia, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

This is lovely VAS.  I meant to come home from church and write a poem on this very subject, but had't found the time before you posted yours.  Good job. Joyce

VAS:  Wonderful thoughts and feelings in this poem.  So well done!  I'm glad I had a chance to read it and tell you what a fine job you've done on it.
