I can look at trash strewn inner city streets
And reap despair

~or~

I can raise my eyes and see the work of His hands:
The sky, the sun, the clouds, the birds, the trees
And reap joy

~

I can look at drug dealers, prostitutes, junkies,
alcoholics and unsavory characters of every shade
And reap despair

~or~

I can raise my eyes and see the work of His hands:
People that He loves passionately, people for whom He died,
people on whom He will never give up nor look down upon
And reap joy

~

I can strive to earn His love and acceptance,
I can strive to make myself holy,
I can strive to gain what He freely offers - and I will fail
And reap despair

~or~

I can receive through faith what He freely gives, what only
He could earn on my behalf, with gratitude, and rest in Him
And reap joy

~

I can focus on my failings, my inconsistencies,
my selfishness, arrogance and pride
And reap despair

~or~

I can raise my eyes and see the work of His hands:
A grateful recipient of His unmerited, unconditional love and favor
And reap joy

~or not~

John 11:25-26

I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me shall live even if he dies,
and everyone who lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?

And I know Denise that you see and reap the joy in life.  Very true it's all in how we look at things.  Joyce

BRAVO!!! Oh yes, yes, I believe in this kind of resurrection with all my heart, I failed as a child to believe in this because I was surrounded by those that always deprived me of my courage and physically abused me, but ever since three years ago, I have come back with a vengeance, and I owe it all to looking forward to joy and turning to the Lord for His love and guidance! (kiss on cheek) God Bless You, sweet friend, you brought tears to my eyes reading this, we all love you so much, have the warmest and happiest Easter! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Denise, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

What you say is the absolute truth.
We are free to choose the path we take. Every single day we reap the joy, or the dispair of what we choose.
I thank God for his mercy and grace.

Yep, the choice is ours, how we will choose to see things. Believing is seeing! Have a wonderful and blessed Resurrection Day, everyone, living in the very power that broke the bonds of death! Thank you all for your lovely replies!
