On the back of a small donkey,
Dear Jesus took His final ride,
Going to great Jerusalem
Where He knew He'd be crucified.
His followers trailed after Him,
Waving palm leaves for their new King,
Not knowing that this Christ Jesus
Was aware what the trip would bring.

They shouted their loud Hosannas
Without knowing the awesome fact;
Christ's journey was implacable
And it would the whole world impact.
They hailed Him their earthly leader,
Bringing justice to their poor lives,
But one of them would betray Him
Before another week arrives.

This one sold Him out for silver.
Another friend denied Him thrice.
Christ accepted without rancor,
This harsh need for His sacrifice.
But the humble little donkey
Who carried our dear Lord with pride,
Would share in the grievous sorrow
On Black Friday when Jesus died.

"Blessed is He," the people shouted,
"Who comes in the name of the Lord"!
But to save themselves from danger
They soon denied Him with a word.
"Crucify Him, crucify Him!"
The wicked men and women cried.
How much kinder the small donkey,
When Holy Christ was crucified.

Joyce:  Well done!  The crucifixion is of course on all our minds right now and you have told the prelude to it in a very descriptive way.

This is a wonderful description of Holy Week.

I'm in charge, and I say question authority!

Joyce, wonderfully presented with accurate information. I'm always so happy when the grief and blackness of that Friday is eclipsed by the glory of the resurrection.

Joyce,

Such a vivid contrast displayed here in your very well written poem about  two events leading up to the crucifixion of Christ.  I love the triumphant entrance of Jesus into Jerusalem and I despise the cruel irony of Jesus treatment when he was sentenced to death upon the cross.  Your poem covers such a very wide range of emotions here.  Again, thank you for sharing and may your Easter be truly blessed.  -Bob

You’ve told the story splendidly, and so appropriate this of year. Thanks for sharing.

(tears fall down my cheeks) Oh Joyce, this is son very powerful, I can't help but cry every time I think of the crucifixion, for it breaks my heart how cruel and selfish they were to do such a thing to Him, but yet, I also shed tears of hope and warmth knowing that He somehow knew this would come and He accepted it to present to us all a lesson, a new day of hope, to save us all from sin and have us all seek penitence to prevent us from warring upon ourselves with gluttony and hatred, and He did it so we can love! (BIG HUGGSSSSSSS) God Bless You, sweet friend, this is soooooo intense and wonderful, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Joyce, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Joyce,
I love your wonderful retelling, and the irony you so clearly show in it.  This is very touching, a masterful and befitting account.
To God be the Glory!

Joyce,
I would have to agree with Noah in crying everytime I think of the cruelty Christ endured.  And then, to think it was for all of us...How truly amazing the strength he possessed!  This piece was very descripted but in a more tempered light which makes it easier on the heart.  Thank you for such beautiful words....Debbie
