He held the sparrow in His hand
Comparing the bird to mortal man
Why can’t man trust me just like you?
When caring for man is what I do

If I love you, my feathered friend
How much more will I love men
Your safety you place in my trust
Yet to man I must prove myself, I must

Do you worry about shelter, my little bird?
Or do you just take me at my word
Do you fly freely from here to there?
Without a worry, without a care

When will man trust me, my sweet sparrow?
I place my breath in his soul
My love in his marrow
I place my hand to catch your fall
Yet mortal man dares trust at all

Did I not reach out to break his fall?
Did I not pay the greatest debt of all
When my hands were pierced by his sin
Yet he’s still afraid to let me in

O’ foolish man, how great your doubt
When the love of God you shut out
Study the sparrow, it’s a study in love
And total trust in the Father above.

WOW!!! OH MY GOSH, THIS IS ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL, SWEET FRIEND, I LOVE IT!!! What a coincidence because sparrows are my favorite birds of all and they inspire me so much I go by the name Singing Sparrow on other poetry boards! (kiss on cheek) I believe we are all sparrows deep inside and our goal is to learn to fly and find our place to rest in His nest of love! (kiss on cheek) We all love you so much, sweet friend, this is absolutely beautiful, God Bless You! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Cheryl, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

hey Cheryl,
this really strikes home...
Matt 6 has been our favorite passage
over these past years of trials and
tribulation. This is beautifully expressed.
thank you,

Noah, I'm so happy that this poem touched you and yes, I can see you as the singing Sparrow. You would have such a trusting, loving heart. Thanks as always

Daniel, Isn't that a wonderful passage. Matthew 6:26 is the inspiration for this piece. I'm so glad you liked it. Thanks.

Cheryl

This is also one of my favorites in the Bible and I am trying to be more like that sparrow, every day.  Loved this poem!
