I, Selfishly

I, selfishly characterize myself,
at the moment
wanting to be rid
of this affliction
that burdens.
Today's difficulty
is not my favorite hardship
to overcome, and I have
battled back from many.

I fear I am being tested
in more ways than one.
I am at a disadvantage,
for I have no solution to
struggling to breathe.

I, selfishly wish
to be cradled in arms
that can rock me in strength,
causing the worry
to quiet within me.
To wake up in them,
knowing that tomorrow
there will be an answer
and breathing will again
come naturally.

Maureen, such a sad piece and no it's not selfish to want to be in those arms of strength of can comfort or to want to be able to breathe normally. I do so hope things improve. Cheryl
