Not Merely a Child

A child was born one chilly night
As all the world stood still.
Heaven sang on angels' flight,
As shepherds hearts were filled.
"We bring tidings of great joy"
It rang through out the land.
"To everyone, forever,
A saviour is born in Bethlehem"...

This be truth the song we sing,
All praises to the King of kings,
And He will reign forever,
In earth and heaven above,
He arrived a child tonight,
To fill us with his peace and love.

Born of the virgin's womb,
He lay upon the straw,
While the anxious world await,
Fulfillment of their law,
His simple ways showed love divine,
And wisdom, taught as thus...
To love even our enemies,
Although they've hated us.

"Blessed are the meek", he said,
"For they shall have this earth.
And blessed are all you who weep,
You shall be filled with mirth."
He healed the sick and vexed of spirit,
Made the lame again to walk.
The blind now saw; the deaf now heard;
The silent voice began to talk.

"This be truth the song I sing,
All praises to my Lord and King
And He shall reign for ever,
In earth and heaven above...
He arrived my saviour, Christ.
And filled me with his grace and love...

He loved us all so dearly,
That when we wept He also cried,
And it was because He loved,
That for our sins he died...
It was upon a cross of wood,
That he prayed "Forgive their sin"
And defeated death to rise,
And make us all alive in Him...

This be truth the song we sing,
All praises to the Risen King,
And He will reign forever
In earth and heaven above..
He became our sacrifice,
To fill us with His power and love...

Yes, he arrived a child one night...
  ......God's gift of Redeeming Love.

Cherish the good memories past and look forward to the adventure called Tomorrow.
But above all... be kind to yourself today.

Thank you for reading my poem and posting your message.  I am fairly new to PIP and am glad when someone reads my poetry and posts a reply.... As for the poem, Not Merely a Child, it isn't just a Poem, it is a Christmas Carol. I have the music written and transposed into 2 different keys for different voices.  I just don't know how to go about getting it published and recorded.....

As for the colourful representation of the verses, they all stand for something... First and formost, the Rainbow represents the fulfillment of God's covenant to us His children fulfilled in the birth, life, death and resurrection of His Son Jesus Christ.  The colours start out in Royal blue announcing the arrival of the King.  The Green is for the Healing Power He has for us then, now and always.  The pink represents the sacrifice He made for us on the cross. Purple represents again His Kingdom and Divinity.

I appreciate the comments.

Your sister in Christ,

Sherry Gardner
