The cup loomed before My eyes.
Bitter gall filled it, heart-wrenching
sorrow poured into it.Father,
I had taken the cup in My hands
and willed it to be mine.
O, that for one hour
they that stayed with Me
in the garden of Gethsemane
could have cupped My face in theirs.
Their sin had become
as a stone upon My heart,
the sins of all the world
had been laid upon My back.
Nails gleamed at My distress.
Spikes teased My quivering flesh.
Lashes bared My skin to the bone.
Father, forgive them as I have;
for they did not know the cost
of what they purposed to do
nor could they have kept Me
from drinking My portion
of Your crucifixtion cup.

I specifically have gotten away from writing poems like this...so at first I wasn't interested in posting anything...but I did want to say that your imagery in this poem is really good...so keep up the good work.

Ivy Rose:  It's always painful to read of Christ's last hours on earth. You have presented the scenario with special understanding I believe. Excellent job!

Ivy, this is wonderfully penned. Like Newton's Laws of Conservation of Matter and Energy, Love and Sorrow are always in balance in Creation. So Christ needed to endure more sorrow than Job in order to pass on God's Love to all the world. It was God's Plan.

(tears fall down my cheeks) Oh Ivy, this is sooooooo emotionally striking, I too always cry when I think of His final days and how he had to endure so much pain and wept so much, though I too know deep down it was part of His plan to save us all with Love, to bring compassion to us all with His sacrifice! (BIG HUGGGSSSSS) God Bless You, sweet friend, this is fabulous, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Ivy, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton
