Rainbows

"Let's build an ark," old Noah said,
"Before the Heavens start to shed
Their tears of rain and waters rise
And we're alone beneath the skies."
His neighbors must have thought him mad.
They didn't know that Noah had
His hand in God's, who led the way
And listened to his prayers each day.

God told him how and when to start.
The rooms to place within the heart
Of this great boat and levels too,
For all the creatures that He knew
Must come on board and stay until
All was accomplished by His Will.
How was it then, to know that they
Were saved, while all life passed away?

Then Noah and his family,
Spent many months upon the sea
And finally a dove was sent
To fly around the firmament
And see if anywhere dry land
Meant their deliverance was at hand.
Three times it flew before it found
A place to land upon the ground.

Then Noah with his horde in tow
Went forth to find a place to go,
To make a home and multiply.
A rainbow arched across the sky.
The sign from God that nevermore
Would He cause the rains to pour.
Thus destroying His creation.
Rainbows fill me with elation!

Betty Lou, You've done a great job on telling this story in rhyme. I have written a version of Noah too. I'll post it later. I enjoy retelling the Bible stories in rhyme, don't you?  Cheryl
