Along the seashore of Cape Cod,
a lonely lighthouse stands
in stately grace, in stanch dependability.
Its light beams bouncing off the sea
~~~~~~~irridescent sparklers
glowing in the ebon night.
Showing wandering ships the way
to navigate around rocky shoals,
the treacherous riptide currents.
Waves smashing into the shoreline
echoing for miles...loud cymbals
in tempest-tossed seas.Yet,
the lighthouse stands in silent
destiny.Knowing the helplessness
of the passing ships; and the rocks
and reefs that lie waiting
at the bottom of the ocean floor.
And so, it sends its beams of light
in continous warning
along the shoreline of hidden
dangers.A lighthouse
lighting the way home as so many
~~~~~~~~lighthouses before.

I read so much into this Ivy Rose, Jesus is our lighthouse, and He is constantly searching for lost souls. Absolutely beautiful poem. floria

Ivy, I love lighthouses and lighthouse poems. I have one I wrote. Maybe I'll post it a little later. Lighthouse Bob is another fan of lighthouses. Yours is a lovely addition and warms the heart. Cheryl

What an apt, descriptive way of speaking of our Lord and his Light.  Joyce

This was so beautiful. I got so much out of it. I spent time this Fall at Nubble Light in Maine. There is something so inspiring about  lighthouses. Marti

Lighthouses are wonderful. And your poem is a very well written tribute to the loving idea of guiding the lost away from danger. Thank you.
