Light On Dark

As brightness shines in sunlight,
So too do shadows in view.
You would be surprised to know that snow,
Also holds colors of purple and blue?

You cannot just look at the light.
For shadows important are too.
For without the dark,
You can't see the light,
Now just stop and think this through.

In daylight could you view the stars?
Would they sparkle without midnight skies?
And would the moonlight glow as it does,
Before our very eyes?

There must be dark to show light
This I know to be true.
For dark on dark would nothing be,
The world would be askew.

So next time you see the snow,
Or the sun or the moon or stars,
Consider all of what I say,
As a painting of Renoirs.
