Overflow OfLove Take a bottle and fill it. Until it can hold no more. A river after a long, long rain, More water, it cannot store. After a storm and heavy rain, When the earth is wet to the core, There is a swelling, a flooding, The earth you see no more. Take a sponge and wet it through, A useful tool you'll see. Let it dry and shrivel up, Then it's useless as can be. Put just one more book, on a crowded shelf, And it all falls to the floor. Now the heart is a different story, A heart can always hold more. Fill your heart with the love of God. He will guide you through and through. Your heart can never overflow, As God keeps it all in you. Floria |

This is so nice, I like to think my heart does overflow every once in a while, spilling love all over the place This is most tender, and very well said |

Thank you sea, I am happy you liked it and thanks for replying.I think instead of overflowing with all the love of God, the heart just gets bigger to hold it all. Nice thought huh? floria |

Floria, this is lovely. Although, I do think you might want to reword that line that says the heart can never overflow. I'm thinking that when we're filled with God's love, it does seem to overflow to others. Just last night at church we were talking of being so filled with the spirit that our love should spill over to others. This is just a suggestion and does not take away from the beauty of your poem at all. Thanks for sharing. Cheryl |

Why thank you Cheryl for your kind input, It makes so much sense and I know I can make it work, I will do just that, because you are so right. God's love does overflow. As our cup runneth over...thank you so very much. floria |

As others have said, God's love never overflows when we share it Fool, said my Muse to me, look in thy heart and write. |

Floria, I love your revision and the original is still wonderful too. Both are wonderful examples of God's abundant love. Glad you didn't take offense at the suggestion. Cheryl |

Strbbux, Wow! This poem is just chock-full of wonderful object lessons. It's really quite amazing that GOD allows the heart to expand as it does to receive all those wonderful blessings that He has for us. Oh my, let us be like that sponge and soak those blessings all up and then let us be like that river overflowing at our banks until the whole earth is flooded in GOD's blessings from on High. Beautiful-beautiful thoughts. -Bob |
