Never Thirst Again

My thirst was great so I went to the well
It was hot and dry that day
A man said, "May I have a drink?"
and I almost turned him away.

But his eyes were kind and gentle
though they looked right through me.
I couldn't help but wonder,
"How much can he see?"

I was an outcast, shunned and shamed,
for I had been with many men.
"I can give you living water," he proclaimed
"and you'll never thirst again."

"Please give me this living water, Sir,
that I won't have to come again."
How little did I realize then
His blood would wash away my sin.

He knew my name and all about my life.
He knew my shame, that I was no man's wife.
Who was this man, a prophet perhaps?
How could that possibly be?
"If you're looking for Messiah, Child,
Look here for I am He."

I turned and quickly ran,
leaving Him standing at the well.
I had to hurry back to town,
many people I had to tell.

They came with me to see and hear.
How our lives were changed that day!
Salvation became so very clear
when Jesus took time to come our way.

John 4:4  But He needed to go through Samaria

Wonderful.  You have retold this bible story beautifully from the standpoint of Mary Magdalene.  Joyce

Joyce, Floria, & Betty Lou, I'm so glad you enjoyed my re-telling of a wonderful Bible truth. I love this story, myself as it gives hope to all of us. We're all worthy of redemption. Thanks for reading. Cheryl
