What Would It Take

What would it take for you to receive
Christ as your personal Saviour from sin
What would it take for you to believe
in Christ, so a new life for you could begin

Would you trust the truths of His Word
and apply those truths to your life
Would you take truth and around you gird
so you might know release from sin and strife

What would it take to loose those chains
that bind you under sin’s control
Could you not release the reigns
give them to God and be made whole

What would it take for you to walk
the pathway of life He once trod
Living the Christian life is more then talk
It’s walking daily in fellowship with God

What would it take for you not to succumb
Would you let Him lead you each day
and give you strength to overcome
all the temptations that come your way

He gave His life so we might be set free
from sin that has enslaved us so long
What more could He do for you and me
to prove His love is so strong

What would it take?

I love the questioning style.  Jesus often taught by asking, which provokes deeper thinking. Sadly, it often takes deep hurts or loses before some turn to or reach for God.  We can never hear the gospel too often.

Rae; Thank you for your comments to this poem.  I was one of those hard headed people and only came to the Lord after a severe blow.  I am thankful to have known the Lord twenty-eight years.  Knowing Him is the greatest joy in my life.  Wanda

This is a nice poem, Wanda.  We are not told it will be easy to always follow his way, but it is worth the while.  Joyce

Joyce; How right you are.  In fact we are told, "All who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted."  Persecution comes in many different forms and various levels.  Most of what we experience here is verbal, but we know of course, there are many who give their life because of their faith.  But, in saying that, it is still worth it all to know Him and His forgiveness.  We have the wonderful promise and hope of seeing Him one day, and spending all eternity with Him. Thank you for your comments..Wanda

Wanda this is a very well stated interogative and instructive poem.  So often we look for excuses for our wrong behavior & the stubborness of following after our own wants and desires. So much we need to break those Grace-deflecting barriers down so that we can make the proper and appropriate responds to Divine Love and call.  The bottom line is -are we willing to do so???

Thank you-As you can see from my recent post, I need such encouragement!

Wanda,  I truly believe your words.  You have
written them so very well.  It only takes
believing...I hope I can do that..sometimes
it is a struggle...and that is just being
honest about it.

Barry; It is good to hear from you.  I have found in my life that the better I know the Lord the less the doubting there is in my life.  It is so important to MAKE time to read His Word and commune with Him.  We all live such a busy life, but to know Him is to love Him, to love Him is to trust Him, to trust Him is to walk in His ways, to walk in His ways is to gain victory in our Christian life.  I am not trying to over simplify a relationship with Christ, because we all struggle at times.  Is it not possible to believe the Words, but struggle with the application?  I think so.

I have a great deal of respect for you, for I know you are honest in expressing your feelings.  My prayer for you is that the struggles you experience will pull you ever closer to Him and His love.  Blessings to you and your beautiful wife.  Wanda
