a sermon titled:  “What Do You Seek Most in Life?”

The morning’s hour
is to break~~~fast
my focus was quite strong,
then, in the pew I sat
and heard
‘that food’s not every thing.’

Yesterday, I shod my feet
with shoes promoting health,
even though the cost of them
cut well into my wealth.

Then before my ears and eyes
the word is lifted up
“be not anxious for your clothes
for lilies of the field
and birds
are quite beautifully clad.”

With purchase made,
I found myself concerned,
what would I do
for all I owe?
When tomorrow hits the day,
how will I cope
with the bed I’ve made
if I find I cannot pay?

To fill me with confusion,
or is it just to teach,
the word says
“Be not anxious for tomorrow...
for today has enough problems
of its own.’

How do I do such
a wondrous act?
The answer comes to light,
“Seek ye first the Kingdom of God
and all these things shall be added unto you.”

Such a simple answer~~~
yet, so very hard to do.

an analogy was used by the speaker that I hope I can weave into a poem all its own, it was quite apropos
most of the bridges in Oregon are inadequate for today’s kind of vehicles. he spoke of how one vehicle at a time going over, the bridge still stands, yet if the bridge tried to endure all the vehicles of today and tomorrow, it would collapse. He likened it to how we, coping with one problem at a time, stand, yet if we were to try to take on all the problems of today AND tomorrow, we too would eventually collapse

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

Good poem!!  It's so hard to learn to trust God fully to take care of our problems as well as our spiritual health!  I struggle with this!

This reminds me of having the faith of a mustard seed....

I've gone through many seeds....

Yes we have to take it one day at a time and the Lord provides but expects us to do our share and to march down there to get those shoes.  Joyce
