Forgive me father, I have been led astray
Each day I get weaker when I do not pray
I’d die for you lord, I stand for what I believe in
But sometimes it’s hard to tell my friends from the demons
Cause the devil has shown me fun lord
But you’re the one that gets things done lord
I’ve given in to temptation, when I become to weak
I have shamed your name, too embarrassed to speak
Cause I’ve broken more than 1 of the 10 commandments
But your still by my side father, you never leave me stranded
God forgive me, I’m nothing without you
I must have been a fool to ever doubt you
Your word is so powerful as it spreads through the land
I just pick up the book and begin to understand
You died for me
You cried for me
You were nailed to the cross, crucified for me
You shed blood and tears, I know you tried for me
So where I go from here is up to me
I can follow your path and lead the life of a Christian
Or I can follow my own, and fail the mission
I won’t fail you lord, I want to make you proud
Raise my hands to the heavens and scream your name out loud
I swear by these words, there’s not one that’s untrue
But until I am ready God, please help me get through

Amen

wow... everything I want to say, you just said with this poem. It's very well written also, flows well.
I hope you don't mind but I liked this poem so much I am going to print it out and hang it on my wall.
Can't wait to read the next one.

Jon; I just read this prayerful poem, and you have said so much here that is on the hearts of many people.  I am thankful that the Lord never leaves His own, and there is power available to us, His children, to live the Christian life.  Wanda

Jon; This is an incredible poem written by a humble and worthy man...for only when we are completely sure that we are nothing without God, then we are truly His!!!  Bravo!! Ellie

A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails.

I like it. I too have been there. You've penned the entire story. He is always ready and waiting for you. Thanks for posting.
