When God put us down on this chessboard called life,
He didn't issue a password to keep us from strife.
The price that we pay for the freedom of will
Is the fact that we know there is no magic pill
Protecting us from the results of our moves.
God's a fan in the stands for children he loves.
Before we started playing, he gave us the tools
To make us winners if we follow the rules.
God is no puppeteer, pulling the string.
It is all up to us to make our lives sing.
God didn't invent the automobile
And he didn't put that fool at the wheel.
I do not believe that life's pre-ordained,
Then why would we try, there would be nothing gained.
Man is responsible for his own action.
So don't be like unto that self excuse faction
Who blame God when truly the fault is their own.
God taught them to play then left them alone.
Just play the game well, do the best that you can.
God will be referee for the actions of man.

We are indeed responsible for our own actions. Well done Joyce.

God bless America, my home sweet home.

Joyce; It is certainly true we are responsible for our own actions.  So often we try to live our lives to please man, but when we stand before the judgment seat of Christ, we will give an account not to man, but to Jesus Christ of what we did with our life after becoming a Christian.  I yearn greatly to hear Him say, "Well, done, thou good and faithful servant." At the same time I do realize I fail Him often, and it is not anyone's fault but mine when I fail Him. Thank you for writing and posting this poem.  I really enjoyed reading it.  Wanda

Wonderful work, Joyce.  In the end, we all have to account for ourselves.
