Where We Live

God made so many kinds of land,
To suit the people He had planned.
In frozen north, the Eskimo
Does very well, midst ice and snow.
The tundra nomads like the sweep
Of rolling land where reindeer leap.
The southern islands, lush and fair
Must hold a bit of Eden there.
In mountains high, or deserts hot,
Somebody likes that place a lot!

The prairie grasses thrive and sway
Where buffalo once liked to stray
And now the rancher's cattle roam,
While cowboys ride their rangeland home.
It doesn't matter where we live,
The point here is, that we should give
Such heart-felt thanks to He who cares
And made this world He gladly shares!
We should be tending carefully
The earth He gave to you and me!

Betty; It is the very least we can do. Also, there is always the future generations to consider.  We are His stewards of the land; and we should carefully tend it.  I enjoyed reading this, Betty.  Good writing.  Wanda

Very true words of wisdom, Betty.  Thank you for sharing them.

I like the light-heartedness of this poem.  I especially liked that in spite of what I think of certain places on earth, there is someone who calls that place home and likes that place quite a lot.  Good poem.  -Bob

I like your perspective in this poem. I have lived many places and there is always something special that I remember about them all. Variety is the spice of life.. and just think if all the earth looked and felt the same, vacation's wouldn't be so much fun.

Thanks Bob:  I know people who live places I wouldn't want to, but they think it's the greatest!  It's a good thing we don't all want to live in one place, don't you think?

You're right Songbird! I remember when I went to Nevada, supposedly for 6 months and thinking I could stand it that long!  I stayed for almost 17 years! I saw some beautiful places there too.
