Devastation of 9-11-01
Melted divisions in Washington
Our country of petty gripes
Sympathizes and unites

Airports closed immediately
Preventing further tragedy
Black, white and yellow skins
United, all Americans

Workers, ready for vacation
Join the rescue operation
Our nations churches packed
While flags flew at half mast

Companies, once driven by greed
Donate millions to the need
Hollywood stars performed
Donating, while we mourned

Family ties became strong
Blood donations were drawn
Many trees don ribbons tied
In memory of all who died

Troops move on to new stations
With bravery and patience
We'll never be quite the same
But thank God unity came

"Amecica," by all, was sung
As to our faith we clung
As the smoke cloud disappears
Its silver lining shines through tears

You are right Sandgrain.  America is united as it never has been before.  There are of course the few radicals who attack Muslim Americans in their ignorance, but we are united as one against the enemy.  Joyce

How very true..prior to 9-11 we definitely had too many petty gripes.. this certainly has shown us where our real priorties should be and how much we had to be thankful for.

Thank you, each, for reading and responding.

Whtdove, it was reading your feelings shared here that inspired me to write this one.
