My 911 call is to God today
and to anyone out there
who knows how to pray,
to not let the acts of terrorism
keep us from loving one another,
to not seek revenge against those
who look and think differently
and who may happen to wear
the Muslim robes tonite,
who also have shed tears and have great fright
that hate and fear will take over here
and elsewhere in the world.
And if that happens, the terrorists will win again.
For they are cowards who seek to instill
terror and hatred in our hearts and minds.
They will not be allowed to steal
my heart and soul.

Today is 9-11... and the alarm has been set for us all to pray and seek God for healing and restoration of our nation.  These acts or terror have never worked in America to divide and seperate us as a people called to be "One Nation Under God" but have only served to bring us closer together.  Thank you for your wake-up call... I  do believe that angels are standing by.  -Bob

We are already proving to those murderers that they will not divide and conquer us. Thanks for your words, they help comfort me.

we find ourselves wondering, I'm sure, if as in the time of WWII, we will intern Arab descent peoples in order to 'protect' them from bigotted mobs

the days, weeks, months and maybe years ahead will be among the most challenging in our nation's history

we definitely need to pray our 911 to God

Thanks for reading my 911 call. Only time will tell what values we really believe in, and what direction world unity and peace will take. I am glad that most sane people are able to differentiate between Arabs, Muslims, and terrorists...they are not equivalent terms. Like the terrorists who murdered these thousands of people, those who perpetuate hatred are in the minority.

Good poem and I think we are beginning to see a great surge of unity and patriotism that we have never seen before. Not just in our country but in the free world also. With God on our side, how can we fail?

Thank you. Here in Fairbanks, all the stores sold out of American flags early. I was annoyed until I found out that local Red Cross chapter supporters bought 800 flags, and gave them away today in exchange for donations for the relief fund. You'd be surprised how 'expensive' those flags were today. I didn't even get there in time...they 'sold out' in 15 minutes. Undeterred, I bought a small American flag pin for my teenager for $20 cash, which was all I had in my pocket. Within 3 hours, the Red Cross had collected over $34,000 in checks. And they haven't even counted the cash yet! My daughter and I also bought small handerchief style flags from a local craft store, and red, white, blue ribbons and bows, and decorated our mailbox. And until today, I am one of the people who could count on one hand the number of times I've hung up a flag. Vietnam, Kennedy, MLK, and Desert Storm were the only other times in my life that prompted me to put up the colors. Enough said.

Thank you Bonnie. The only problem I have with the "With God on Our Side" phrase is that the terrorists have said pretty much the same thing. Unless God is schizophrenic I can't see how He could be on both sides. He sure is getting both credit and blame these days.

Cindi, thanks for being here at the board. I hope I never have to make a 911 call like this again.
